Welcome to our day together on July 31st visiting the massive elephant seals and vast beaches of Ano Nuevo State Reserve hosted by Betty's List and Blue Water Ventures. 11:30am-6:00pm
We invite you to join our team of naturalist as we hike Ano Nuevo State Reserve, an area rich in cultural and natural history. By late July, the huge male elephant seals have returned to the remote beaches of Ano Nuevo for molting season. They have been feeding in Alaska for several months now and their size is impressive, some weighing well over 5000 pounds!
We will hike through this State Park jewel to view these amazing animals learning about their ecology and behavior. The Ano Nuevo area was once a large settlement site for the Ohlone Indians. Our day will include examining a shell midden left by these early Native Americans. After hiking, , you will have the option to join your naturalist as we explore an incredible stretch of beach near the parking area of Ano Nuevo.
