5 Day Baja Adventure For Women

A Hotel Based Warm Water Adventure in Search of Whale Sharks and Baby Sea Turtles

Welcome to Our Whale Shark and Baby Sea Turtle Adventure in Baja!
I am pleased
to welcome you to a fantastic adventure exploring the underwater wonders of the Sea of Cortez and the Sea Turtles of the Pacific

A few years ago, I had an opportunity to swim alongside a massive whale shark in Bahia de la Paz. Such an experience has been a life long dream of mine, high on the bucket list.

Whale Sharks, the largest fish on the planet can reach a length of 60 feet. The sharks we have the great fortune to observe in Bahia de la Paz are

mostly juveniles and rarely exceed 30 feet in length.

Relatively little is known about these enigmatic animals which may live to 100 years of age and sustain themselves on a diet of plankton.

As filter feeders, they offer no real threat to humans and snorkeling with them is an unbelievable experience.

Whale sharks are commonly sighted in the shallow water off of La Paz and our hope is to swim with these enormous animals.

As fish, whale sharks obtain oxygen through their gills and are not required to breathe at the surface as whales do.

In  early November, Bahia de la Paz is typically calm increasing our chances of spotting the shark's massive shape below the water's surface as they migrate into the bay to feed.  As with most wildlife, whale shark encounters are not guaranteed but chances to observe these animals are excellent this time of year.

In addition to whale sharks, we will swim with sea lions and other marine life in the ruggedly beautiful Sea of Cortez. November is a delightful month to enjoy the exquisite desert beauty and underwater wonders of The Sea of Cortez. Typically the weather has cooled down a bit, but the water remains warm with visibilities often exceeding 60'. Schools of mantas, dolphins and sea lions are often encountered. I am very excited to share Baja's rich and varied wildlife together.

In order to participate in this program, you should consider yourself a moderately strong swimmer or physically fit and comfortable in open water.

Sometimes whale sharks are feeding leisurely at the surface while other times they are gliding effortlessly at a high speed.

It takes a strong swimmer to swim parallel to whale sharks when they are on the move. Excellent viewing can be made from our support boat if you are unsure about in water encounters.
