Trip Cost includes all in country transportation, all activities as described in the 10 day itinerary, all meals, in country fees and permits, museum and cultural entrance fees, Salsa dance lessons, bilingual interpretation, naturalist guide services, and 9 nights of lodging. The above trip cost also includes a $250 tip to our Cuban Guides as well as tips for our Cuban hosts and drivers, as well as donations to museums and speakers. We do suggest that if you enjoy some local musicians, that you will consider a few dollars as tip to show your appreciation.
The price does not include airfare, $85-100 tourist card for travel to Cuba, $25-30 Cuban required accident insurance that may be billed into your airline
ticket, mandatory trip insurance purchased in the US, personal alcohol or activities not described in the itinerary.
Due to the complexity of arranging foreign programs the following cancellation policy is required.
If cancellations are made 100 days or more prior to the starting date of the program, you will be granted a refund of the trip minus a $500 nonrefundable processing fee.
No refunds are given when cancellations are made less than 100 days from the program starting date.
Blue Water Ventures (BWV) requires that participants purchase Trip
Insurance for the full value of your trip (trip cost and airfare) for all international trip destinations. Trip Insurance is a very affordable tool to protect your investment.
You must purchase trip insurance within 15 days from when your initial trip deposit is deposited or purchase of an airlines ticket. We will notify you when we deposit your first payment.
We are directing our clients to Pacific Harbor Travel (831) 427- 5000. By using a local Santa Cruz business, we have an extra layer of protection, a reliable agency that can help advise us if we need to make a travel insurance claim.
The great staff at Pacific Harbor Travel can review the policies with you and help you select the policy that suits you best. Most clients purchase the Travel Insured's World Wide Trip Protector Plan which is very affordable. Pacific Harbor travel may also help you book your flights.
You may want to consider a policy known as Cancel For any Reason. This is the only type of policy that includes cancellation if there was a Travel Ban to Cuba in which case 75% of your investment would be reimbursed. You would simply cancel without stating the reason. Keep in mind that travel warnings are not travel bans. Right after Hurricane Irma , a travel warning to Cuba was issued, warning travellers that some areas were affected by the hurricane. Flights to Cuba continued as did tourist. It was simply a warning not a ban.
Over the years, I've had several clients who have used their trip insurance and they were fully refunded for both the flight and cost of the trip. On the flip side, I've had people lose the full value of a trip because a medical situation developed or an unexpected family emergency happened back home such as an ailing family member.
Trip insurance will also cover medical evacuations and expenses during a trip, a cost that we can not cover for you. Trip insurance would cover the cost of getting you back home if a family member became ill and you needed to leave the trip for that reason. This is covered under the trip interruption clause.
Trip insurance will also help cover unexpected travel related issues during the program
Evacuations: Travel insurance is also highly recommended in the event that you require an evacuation
due to a medical condition, family emergency back home or any other reason.
All costs for such evacuations and/or medical treatments are the responsibility of each participant.
Please travel with a credit card in the event that payments are required for an evacuation or medical treatment.
We can not make any exceptions to our cancellation policy
BWV is not responsible for any expenses incurred by participants related to a canceled program or one they participated in, costs such as airline tickets, flight change fees, lost luggage, missed flights, visa fees, transportation, lodging, etc. BWV reserves the right to cancel a trip before it's departure date for any reason including insufficient participation. Blue Water Ventures does not assume responsibility for program changes or trip cancellations due to situations such as those related to weather, natural disasters or political events (i.e. war or travel bans) or any other reason. Furthermore, BWV is not responsible for changes in private or governmental sectors, both at the domestic and international level, that may effect this trip.
