( all meals, 2 nights of lodging, 5 nights of island camping full boat support, naturalist-led tours and all planned activities included)
I am pleased to welcome you to a fantastic adventure exploring the archipelago island complex of Espiritu Santo Island in the Sea of Cortez and the Surf community of Cerritos Beach on Baja’s rugged Pacific side.
We have combined some of the very best wildlife experiences and activities that Baja has to offer before the heat of the summer arrrives. Due to logistical considerations while camping, we can take no more than 16 guests on this exclusive experience.
For five days we will be exploring the biologically rich archipelago island complex of Espiritu Santo Island. Declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1995, the deserted islands of the Espiritu Santo Island complex provide a truly unique marine ecosystem to explore.
Our days will be active although most activities optional~ kayaking, snorkeling, fishing and hiking surrounded by the exquisite beauty of the Sea of Cortez. We will break camp 3-4 times as we circumnavigate the archipelago, weather dependent. Our support boat will always be with us to help transfer our group as needed. Working as a team, everyone will help break down and set up our tents while the crew breaks down group gear and load kayaks.
During late May-early June. we could potentially encounter large mega fauna such as leaping mantas, pods of dolphins, Pilot Whales or even Humpback whales. From our support boat, we can fish each day catching fresh fish to compliment our evening meals. Each day will offer a new adventure as we explore the islands and the vast marine ecosystem.
We will swim among sea lions and other marine life in the ruggedly beautiful Sea of Cortez. Late May is a delightful month to enjoy the exquisite desert landscape and underwater wonders of The Sea of Cortez. Typically the weather is warm but without the full heat of the summer, the water is warm and welcoming. We are very excited to share Baja’s rich and varied wildlife together.
In order to participate in this program, you should consider yourself a moderately strong swimmer, relatively fit and comfortable swimming in open water. Sometimes we will enter the water from our support boat which will require the ability to climb back up the boat ladder using your arms and upper body for strength.
Due to the nature of this trip traveling in vans and boats together, we will require everyone to submit proof of the COVID-19 vaccine (to be updated in 2022)
Boat rides may be bumpy and jarring with the prevailing winds across the Baja Peninsula. Please review Medical Requirements and other important trip details at: More Info before you decide to join our adventure.
Our Sea of Cortez program takes us into a remote area of the world where a medical evacuation could be extremely costly. All costs for evacuations and/or medical treatments are the responsibility of each participant, a cost that travel protection should cover. Please review our cancellation policy and travel insurance options at: Travel Protection. Be sure to travel with a credit card in the event that payments are required for an evacuation or medical treatment.
