Encounter With a Gray Whales
We are so grateful for our fantastic Mexican based outfitter,
Mar y Aventuras who shares the wonders of their home, the Baja Peninsula each year with us.
Before our trip began, I had the greatest honor to join naturalist guide Carlos Gajon Bermudez and his family among the Gray whales. Slaughtered to near extinction in the lagoons of Baja, Gray whales now gently bring their offspring to us.
With eyes wide open they examine the hull of our small ponga, peer into our eyes and hear our giggles, perhaps even notice our tears of joy and wonderment.
Our experiences among the magnificent whales of Baja are profoundly moving. Our tiny ponga is dwarfed by their massive size as she glides gently below the hull of our boat. I am humbled and filled with such deep appreciation in their presence.
