What an incredible adventure we had on our first Belugas, Bears, History and Culture Multi-Sport Adventure, hotel based in the sub-arctic zone of Churchill. Such a fascinating destination, known as the accessible arctic.
I thought perhaps this was “one and done” but we fell in love with those Beluga Whales and had amazing views of Polar Bears. Thanks to Jane Orbuch for sharing her bear photos with me. As the week progressed, we met a cast of characters who love their home and the wildlife that surrounds it.
Over 3000 Beluga whales enter the Churchill Estuary each summer…..there was never an average day on the water by kayak, SUP, Beluga Boarding or Zodiac. Those Belugas literally found us, often chasing behind our vessel. They are curious, interactive, chatty and so numerous. White caps on the horizon are in truth “whale caps”.
