I am pleased to welcome you to a fantastic adventure exploring the wonders and wildlife of the Baja Peninsula Sur, from Desert to Sea!
The eight day itinerary will provide a detailed account of our travels. We plan to spend a full day exploring the Sea of Cortez from our hotel base in La Paz. Four nights/four days will be spent at our Glamping base camp in the southern region of Magdalena Bay on Baja’s Pacific Coast. Hotel accommodations are included on Day One, Day Two and on Day Seven in the quaint coastal town of Loreto where our program ends. All meals and activities described in the itinerary are included.
Get ready for three action pack days as we depart the Boca of Magdalena Bay or explore within the bay. During the fall months, a sea of sardines migrate along the Pacific Coast of Baja forming a dense concentration of bait that attract a variety of hungry predators such as striped marlins, tunas, sea lions sea birds and dolphins. Although we can never predict wildlife encounters, mid November marks the south bound migration for a variety of cetaceans including Humpback and Brydes whales. Orcas are known to patrol the open waters of Baja. While exploring offshore, our days will be long so both physical and mental endurance is required. However, you may pace yourself regarding the amount of time you spend in the water snorkeling.
We will scan the water from the comforts of our motorized skiff looking for wildlife. Our hope is to enter the water among the sleek ferraris of the ocean realm, the striped marlins. Stealthy predators, these magnificent sail fish lunge through bait balls feeding on sardines. They are agile and graceful predators that can reach a speed of 50 miles per hour.
We are also thrilled to offer the incredible opportunity to swim along side the world’s largest fish, the filter feeding whale sharks found in La Paz Bay. We have secured the required permit for our 2022 trip and are eager to offer this unique experience to our guest.
Keep in mind that all experiences are dependent upon favorable weather and sea conditions, as well as the behavior and location of species on any given day. We have a variety of alternative activities planned if we can’t go offshore for a day or more while visiting Magdalena Bay as described in our itinerary
Our itinerary includes the permit to snorkel among whale sharks!

In order to participate in this program, you should consider yourself a moderately strong swimmer, relatively fit and very comfortable swimming in open water. We will enter the water from our support boat which will require the ability to climb back up the boat ladder using your arms and upper body for strength.
As we encounter oceanic wildlife, it takes a strong swimmer to parallel animals such as whale sharks that are in motion. Excellent viewing of sea lions, whale sharks and bail ball activity can be made from our support boat if you are unsure about in water encounters.
Boat rides may be bumpy and jarring with the prevailing winds across the Baja Peninsula. Please review Medical Requirements and other important trip details at: More Info before you decide to join our adventure.
Due to the nature of this trip traveling in vans and boats together, we will require everyone to submit proof of the COVID-19 vaccine.
